TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama has signed a regulation regarding the adjustment of the public transportation tariff following fuel price hike.
“I have signed [the regulation]. It will be announced on Monday,” Ahok said on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah.
Ahok said the tariff would increase by Rp1,000 or 30 percent from the previous tariff at Rp3,000.
“Generally, the tariff will be Rp4,000,” Ahok said.
Jakarta Transportation Agency head, Muhammad Akbar said the new tariff will be applied by all public transportations starting from Monday, November 24, 2014. Akbar explained that the tariff increase calculation was based on the operational cost, 10 percent profit and the number of passengers.
Andre Silalahi, chief of cargo vehicle division at the Jakarta chapters of the Organization of Land Transportation Owners (Organda) said the 30% tariff increase had matched Organda’s expectation.
“It’s just like what we expected. The tariff will be increased by 30 percent for public transportation and by 35 percent for cargo transportation,” Andre said.
Andre explained that the tariff increase calculation was based on fuel price hike, vehicle repair cost, driver commission and inflation rate.
