TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Islamic Defender Front (FPI) pledged that they will continue stand against Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama as the governor of Jakarta. FPI Chief Muhammad Rizieq Shihab also asked people to actively oppose Ahok, whom he claimed to be arrogant.
"If Ahok is elected as the governor and then he comes to our place, we will throw him with rotten eggs," he said during an oration on Monday, November 10, 2014. He also mentioned that fighting Ahok is a form of good deed.
During Ahok's time as the acting governor, FPI has routinely held demonstration in the city hall every Friday. One demonstration on early October ended up badly as the islamic organization were throwing the police with stones and horse dumpings. The police suspected that the demonstration was engineered to end in chaos.
