TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Yadi Rusmayadi, the chief of the Central Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), said his agency had long coordinated with the National Monument (Monas) park’s management on the planned changes to the park’s security system.
“The illegal vendor issue will never be resolved if the security system is not changed,” Yadi told Tempo on Monday, October 26, 2014.
He added the illegal vendors at Monas were the most rebellious in the capital, and that they refused to have a seat with the authorities to resolve the issue. “When they’re asked to have a discussion, they always refuse it. They just do as they please,” he said.
Earlier, the Monas park’s management head Rini Hariani said she would stop using outsourced security personnel in 2015 in light of their poor performance when guarding the park.
Rini said she would employ guards hired on individual contracts instead, who are easier to oversee. She also said she would increase the number of security guards from the present 120 to 180.
