TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf 'JK' Kalla has confirmed that the inauguration of the new cabinet's ministers will take place on Monday.
Currently, Joko 'Jokowi' and JK are still waiting for the results of the investigation into the names of ministerial candidates, which is led by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). "Once no one is flagged by KPK, we'll announce the names immediately and proceed to inaugurate them as ministers," said JK at the Vice President's Office yesterday.
According to JK, both the announcement and the inauguration need not wait for the Parliament (DPR) to issue its recommendations. Previously, JK said he was told by House Speaker Setya Novanto to postpone the announcement until DPR finalizes its recommendations on Monday since Jokowi plans on restructuring the ministries under his cabinet. Those that will be formed, merged, and/or renamed are ministries other than the 16 required [ministries] to be formed by the constitution, namely the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education, Ministry of Research and Higher Education, and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Housing.
As per Friday evening, JK has yet to confirm the time and location where the cabinet line-up will be announced, nor did he detail the structure of the cabinet. "It won't be too far from here, probably around the [Merdeka] Palace," said JK.
