TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of Public Order Agency Unit of West Jakarta Kadiman Sitindjak said that they will sweep cattle traders in West Jakarta, especially those violating the regulation on public facilities usage. "Such as that in Kebon Jeruk that was using a bus stop to trade," he told Tempo.
Cattle traders are not allowed to sell in public facilities such as sidewalk, bus stop, and schools. They are only allowed to sell in vacant lots. "Usually, traders and land owner share the profit," he said.
He highlighted that the Public Order Agency unit will sweep and enforce the regulation. They also plan to confiscate the cattle, in case the traders refuse to move.
Earlier this week, Tempo discovered that the cattle trader in Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, Abdul Hamid (42) -- who uses a bus stop to sell his cattle -- has been selling cattle in that particular area for three years. "I have been permitted by local residents," he said. He also claimed to have paid rent and security fee.
