TEMPO.CO, Muenchen - Theo Zwanziger from the FIFA Executive Committee, said that World Cup 2022 is unlikely to be held in Qatar due to the nation's extreme temperature. As cited by Bild, Zwanziger said that the World Cup takes place not only in the stadium, but also outside the venues.
FIFA has previously appointed Qatar as the host of World Cup 2022. The decision resulted in tense discussion because the country is considered to be extremely hot during summer with a maximum temperature reaching up to 40 degrees Centigrade.
On the other hand, Qatar spokesman Nasser al-Khater, ensured that Qatar will remain as a host to the event. Naseer proposed that the World Cup should be held on winter, around November and December.
However, changing the schedule will not be easy, as it will also change the schedule of European leagues and competitions.
