TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Elected president Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has said that he plans to improve Indonesian maritime infrastructure. In order to realize the program, Jokowi is set to allocate Rp60 trillion from the State Budget.
The budget will be used to construct waterways and port repair. "Everything, from the waterways to the port," said Jokowi “I believe it will finish in four to five years. We will optimize the construction of waterways."
Jokowi claimed that he understands the problem in constructing maritime infrastructure. One of the challenges, he said, is on budget. However, Jokowi is optimistic that the problems can be dealt with. "I am optimistic that what we are working on will be successful," he said.
