TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Manchester United face another dire problem after losing from Leicester City as the line of defenders are taken by injury. United’s central back duet Johnny Evans and Tyler Blackett will be unavailable when United face West Ham United on September 27. Evans was injured while Blackett red-carded on last Saturday’s match.
United now only have Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, and youngster Tom Thorpe to fill in the central defender position, given that England international defender Phil Jones is also injured. Van Gaal is likely to put Smalling and Rojo in the central defense area, leaving the left wing back to recently recovered Luke Shaw.
However, the Dutchman doubts that he will select the three defensive players with offensive trait all at once, stating that he might opt different players. Van Gaal himself has come under fire as United are in no better shape than last season, causing fans and board to begin considering sacking him.
