TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Embassy in India has announced the names of Indonesians who were trapped in floods in Takth e Sulaeman, Srinagar, India. They are Irma Natalia Tanjung, Mariskha Maria Widjaja, Dewi Vitri Restikasari, Elya Surie, Kontan, Sri Suryani, Rithmi Widanarko, Dedi Suryadi Ilyas and Herry Utama.
The names were announced in a release published by the embassy on Saturday. They were contacted on Friday and it has been confirmed that they have been evacuated.
They are now in a safe place with two people in New Delhi and seven people in Chandigarh. “They will go to New Delhi to join with the others and return to Indonesia,” said the embassy in the release.
As a form of solidarity, Indonesian humanitarian organization Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) has provided aid since Tuesday through Indian humanitarian groups such as Zakat Foundation and volunteers in Jammu and Kashmir House.
ACT team informed that the aids that will be given are blankets, dry food, drinks and et cetera. Floods in India and Pakistan have been ongoing since two week ago and has killed hundreds of people. The militaries of both countries who usually fight each other are now helping each other to help flood victims.
