TEMPO.CO, Lisbon - Portugal National Team manager Paulo Bento decided to resign from his position after having experienced tremendous pressure in the last couple of months. BBC reported that Portugal's soccer federation will immediately name Bento's replacement.
Portugal‘s decision to depose Bento was not surprising following the country's recent defeat against Albania in Euro Cup 2016 qualification match. Moreover, Bento also failed to create a good impression during the 2014 World Cup when Portugal was eliminated from the competition during the group qualification stage.
On Monday, the pressure against Bento culminated when a bunch of Portugal fans express their dissapointment after Albania managed to steal victory by a single goal. During his four years career as the Portugal national team manager, Bento's top achievement was in 2012, when Portugal made it through the Euro Cup semifinal.
