TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Everyone has their own way of doing things, but here, our expert tea connoisseur from the Tea Garden Company PT Pagilaran, Saiful Hafidz, reveal his secret to making a proper pot of tea.
1. Brew the tea in the right water temperature.
For a black tea, brewed it in a temperature of up to 100 degree celcius.
Oolong tea is usually brewed in a temperature of 80 to 90 degrees celcius, so a green tea should be less than 90 degrees celcius.
“It’s better not to over-boil the water in brewing the tea because it will reduce its oxigen. So when it boils for the first time, lift it up,” Saiful said.
2. Clean the tea
Usually, before packaging, the tea have been stored for one or two months in the store.
“For that, clean the tea with the first water brew. After you pour the water, dispose of it. After the second or third brew, it will be the most delicious brew because the tea’s freshness has been restored and the tea leaf has opened,” Saiful said.
3. No sugar
To enjoy the true taste and aroma of your tea, it is recommended to be served without sugar.
Nevertheless, it all depends on the brewer's taste. Saiful said that the addition of sugar will not cause in certain chemical reactions that are harmful for your health.
4. Select your kettle
Compared to metal, the best material to brew a tea is with a ceramic kettle because it does not give any smell and the taste of the tea will be better.
5. Pour the tea evenly
Pour the brewed water in a circular motion to be spread evenly and let it remain for three minutes before drinking it.
“If the tea is not poured evenly, it will be damaged in the section where the water is being poured more,” Saiful said.
