TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief of the Electoral Commission (KPU) Husni Kamil Manik said that they only have Rp1.5 billion left in their balance. "KPU finance state no more than Rp2 billion, no more than 1.5 billion," said Husni.
Husni also said that KPU never has involved in a spending spree that reached billions of rupiah, as recently been all over the news. "There was no billions of Rupiah. I gave never spent more than he allocated budget," he said.
Husni also said that KPU budget absorbance in 2013 was at 69.58 percent or Rp6 trillion. As for the next financial year, KPU member Arief Budiman said that the commission has proposed for Rp726 billion in RAPBN 2015.
The budget will be used to fund Graha Pemilu building, as well as for remuneration, award, and secretariat. "If not approved, the programs will not be running," he said.
Graha Pemilu is the joint facility for the Electoral Supervision Board and Honorary Board. Moreover, KPU plans to form secretariats in 15 new autonomous regions.
