TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President-elect Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo said he dared to act less populist by increasing fuel price. "[He] has been elected, right? [He] does not need to campaign again," said Andy Widjajanto, Deputy of the Transitional House of Jokowi-Jusuf 'JK' Kalla.
If Jokowi decided to increase the fuel price, it should be under several considerations and preparations. "Of course we will consider the procedural matter. If we plan on increasing the fuel price in April, then we will prepare a special allocation for the vulnerable groups in between January and March," said Andi.
Jokowi said the fuel price hike policy should be assertive and cover the whole Indonesia, not only in certain locations. It must also provide solutions.
The decision to increase the fuel price should have proper calculation in economic, political, and social impact. It must also consider the efficiency value.
