TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the National Monument (Monas) Management Unit Rini Hariyani said the entrance gates to Monas in Central Jakarta, is set ro use an electronic ticketing (e-ticketing) system, and is expected to be applied in early 2015.
"We will work with several banks [to implement this system]," Rini said yesterday.
The system, which adopts the similar system used by PT Transportasi Jakarta, aims at minimizing cash translation within the Jakarta provincial government.
The visitors only have to tap the electronic cards on a sensor at the turnstiles to open them and the amount in the card will be deducted by Rp5,000.
Six entrance gates will be available at the IRTI entrance gate, in front of Indosat building, next to Gambir Station, in front of Pertamina building, in front of the State Palace, and in front of the Monas.
Therefore, entrance gates will automatically restrict street vendors from operating in the area, which occupies an 80-hectare of land.
In addition to restricting the number of food vendors, the provincial government has also planned on working with private companies to provide food and beverage vending machines. The food and beverage vending machines are expected to reduce the visitors' dependence on food vendors.
"It is because the visitors often claim that they find difficulties finding food," said Rini, adding that later on, the machines will also use e-tickets.
In addition to the entrance gates and food and beverage vending machines, photography services within the area will also use the e-ticket system.
"We want all transactions to be well recorded," Rini said.
