TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned gas company Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) challenged Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo and Deputy Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama to use liquid gas-fueled vehicles to set an example for the people.
“The leaders should at least give the first example,” said PGN spokesman Ridha on Tuesday. Liquid gas consumption in Jakarta is still very low especially in transportation sector.
Ridha said the Jakarta provincial government already has a strong foundation, which is Local Regulation about Jakarta's Blue Sky program. Moreover, Ahok often stresses about fuel savings and expresses support towards fuel subsidy removal.
PGN has met with the Jakarta government to offer cooperation in converter kit, but no response has been made even though PGN has provided gas re-filling station in Monas which is near Jakarta government office.
Ridha continued that mobile refueling unit (MRU) in Monas has only served blue bajaj. Around 400 units of bajaj come to refuel about equal to 10 liters of premium a day.
PGN recorded the average daily gas consumption for transportation is still dominated by Transjakarta with equal to 200 liters of Premium a day. The total consumption in transportation sector reaches 280 liters Premium a day.
The Jakarta government should set an example by using liquid gas-fueled vehicles. “There’ll more budget saving,” he said.
