TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metro Police will extend the detention period for two Jakarta International School (JIS) staffers, Neil Bantleman and Ferdinant Tjiong, who were detained last month for allegedly sexually assaulting three kindergarten pupils, as reported by Antara News.
Jakarta Police criminal investigation director Sr. Comr. Heru Pranoto said that the two suspect’s detention period would be extended for another 40 days, starting Saturday, for further investigation.
“Hopefully we can complete the documents and submit the dossiers to the South Jakarta district court soon after the extension,” Heru told reporters at the Jakarta Police headquarters on Friday.
He said that the results of lie detector tests conducted two weeks ago were not ready. “We will use the results of the lie detector tests as evidence. If the results of the test show they were not lying, then we will use the evidence we already have,” Heru said.
Thus far, the parents of three JIS pupils have come forward and filed police reports claiming their children were sexually assaulted. All three cases have implicated JIS staffers.
Heru further said that the police had collected four pieces of evidence that were “strong enough” to be used in the case. However, he refused to disclose the evidence.
