Jakarta to Hold Populasi Bina Operation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government is scheduled to hold the Populasi Bina Operation (Binduk) for 14 days after Eid al-Fitr holidays. The operation aims to select newcomers in Jakarta, as reported by Antara News.

"The Populasi Bina Operation will be done in mid-August. We involve the RT/RW to smoothen its implementation," said Head of Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Department, Purba Hutapea, Thursday.

Hutapea explained that non-Jakarta residents are allowed to come to Jakarta for only two weeks. If they want to stay longer, he added, must have an official certificate first with a validity period of one month. Such operation will be done regularly. In other words, the officers will return to visit permanent, rented or boarding houses for data collection.

He urged the newcomers to obey the applicable rules in Jakarta. If not, his department would give sanction in accordance with the Bylaw No. 8/2007 on Public Order, that is paying fine Rp100,000 to Rp20 million and 60 days in prison.

"We cooperate with the related units through socialization and also monitor the homecoming and returning flow in Jakarta at the post belongs to Ministry of Transportation and hold the Populasi Bina Operation," he stated.

He also added that the number of population in Jakarta had reached 12.7 million people and 9.9 million people after this year's Eid holiday.
