Honda Targets US$5.9 Billion Revenue in 2014

TEMPO.CO, Tokyo - Japanese third largest automotive producer Honda has increased its net income target by 4.5 percent in 2014 to US$5.9 billion or Rp64.9 trillion. Honda’s sales division head Shinji Aoyama said they were optimistic that the new target could be achieved because sales in several developing countries were good.
The target revision was caused by the yen’s weakening towards US dollar to 101 yen per dollar and good new sales model. In China, Honda has sold 1.3 million units of Accord sedan while sales in Indonesia increased by 68 percent to 82,000 units in the first half of the year, with more than half of sales from the Mobilio.
Sales also rose in Indonesia with 40 percent increase from April to June 2014 to 40,000 units, with large contribution from the City and Amaze models. “This early month, we just launched the Mobilio model for Indonesia’s market. Thus, we believe that sales will increase,” he said.
“Though the U.S. market shows decreasing sales, it’s paid off with developing markets in Asia, especially China, Indonesia and India,” said Aoyama.
