TEMPO.CO, JakartaPresident Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) has received the Father of Indonesian Cooperatives Development Motivator award from All-Indonesia Cooperatives Movement from the Indonesian Cooperatives Council (Dekopin).

"We proudly present the highest cooperatives award to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono as the Father of Indonesian Cooperatives Development Motivator," Minister of Cooperatives, Small and Medium Businesses Sjarifuddin Hasan said during the commemoration of the 67th Cooperative Day at Benteng Square on Tuesday.

The President received the award in recognition of his services to promote the quality and quantity of cooperatives in the country during his term of office.

During the leadership of President Yudhoyono, Indonesian cooperatives received their first-ever global recognition, he said.

"In 2013, the Warga Semen Gresik Cooperative received international recognition from ICA (the International Cooperative Alliance). The cooperative was ranked 233rd out of 300 world-class cooperatives surveyed," he said.

Several Indonesian cooperatives are expected to join the Warga Semen Gresik Cooperative, as they receive international recognition this year, he said.

The ICA is in the process of assessing the cooperatives to determine which will receive international recognition, he said.

"We received information from ICA last week that the Warga Semen Gresik Cooperatives rating will increase to 205th from 233rd," he said.
