TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bekasi City administration is regulating the operational hours for trucks that transport soil. The operational hour was set for several roads to suppress the accident rate and to prevent the traffic jam.
"Currently, it is applied in Jl. Perjuangan towards Northern Bekasi," said the Head of Traffic Operational of the Bekasi Transportation Agency, Ikhwanuddin, on Friday.
According to Ikhwan, the trucks carrying soils are allowed to pass on the road during 05:00 to 09:00am and 16:00 to 18:00 local time. "To ensure the driving comfort and safety, it will gradually apply to other roads," Ikhwan added.
If we catch the trucks passing outside the determined hours, the officers of the Transportation Agency will apply sanction to the truck drivers.
Bekasi mayor Rahmat Effendi backed the information by saying that the government will be limiting the operational hours for soil trucks. Such trucks have been considered to increase the traffic density and they often drop the soils on the road. The mayor said that the soil dropped on the road will become slippery during the rain and become flying dusts during the dry and windy weather.
