TEMPO.CO, New Delhi - A man in the age of 63 years was rushed to a hospital due to a complaint of stomachache and nausea. To the medic team, he claimed to have swallowed a plastic botol lid by accident. The doctor decided to perform a surgery in his stomach. However it was not a botol lid that was found, instead, the doctor discovered 12 gold bars inside of the man’s stomach.
The man, whose name is not mentioned, turned out that he was trying to smuggle gold to India from a country that is also not mentioned.
The doctor who performed the surgery in a hospital in New Delhi on April 9, CS Ramachandran, said it was unexpected. The gold bars are possible to be led out without surgery, but the X-ray scan showed that the man suffered from intestinal clogging.
This reckless action was done to smuggle gold to the country that is known as the second largest gold market in the world after China. He tried to hide the gold in his stomach to avoid paying 10 percent for import duty.
