TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Financial planner Ligwina Poerwo Hananto has dismisssed allegations that she owned shares at Panen Mas and had received commissions from Global Trades International Syariah (GTIS).
She explained that the main job of an independent financial planner was to provide financial education and financial planning for clients. “Financial planner works based on contracts agreed by clients,” Ligwina told Tempo on Tuesday, April 15 2014. The owner of Quantum Magna Financial also affirmed that as an independent financial planner she did not sell products.
She said as a financial planner she would introduce her clients to a third party to the help them acquire firsthand information on certain products. The third party, she added, could be banks, insurance agencies, investment managers, securities, cooperatives, businesses, or property owners. “It is mentioned in the contract that the client will bear any risk,” she said.
Ligwina explained that clients and the planners would discuss choices to be included in the financial plans. The decision regarding the products, however, was in the clients’ hands. “There is no coercion whatsoever.”
Previously, renowned presenter Ferdi Hasan reported Ligwina Hananto to the Jakarta Police for alleged fraud involving investments in two companies: Panen Mas and Trimas.
