TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pramono Edhie Wibowo, a member of the Democrat Party's advisory council and ex-Army chief of staff, said the party might eventually craft a new coalition axis aside from the existing three spearheaded by the big three champions of the parliamentary elections, viz. the National Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), the Golkar Party, and the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra).
"We might as well do it," said Pramono, who is also a participant of the Democrat's presidential primary. Pramono said that the new axis might be established if an greement was reached between the Democrat and other parties such as the National Mandate Party (PAN), the National Awakening Party (PKB), or the People's Conscience Party (Hanura).
"The axis is good. But the Democrat cannot be the one that pushes for this," Pramono said. He added that his party had yet to take any political move to establish the new coalition axis. "There has not been any form of communication to other parties," he said.
