TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Elected Bogor Mayor, Bima Arya Sugiarto, said that traffic congestion has become a common problem in Bogor. "It has to be tackled in comprehensive ways," Bima told Tempo on Monday.
Bima said he will make three breakthroughs to cope with traffic congestion. Those are monitoring movement of vehicles, people, and spatial as well as reparation of broken road.
In order to monitor movement of vehicles, there will be limitation of vehicles especially public transportation, which has reached 3,420 units in Bogor. "I will ask DLLAJ (City Land Transportation Agency) to assess the appropriate number of transports," he said.
Monitoring the movement of people is done by splitting the pedestrians to prevent them from piling up on only one spot such as station, terminal or shopping center.
According to Bima Arya, the Bogor city government will also assess Bogor's spatial planning and repair damaged roads. "Broken roads must be fixed as soon as possible," he said.
