TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that he has notified the Ministry of Home Affairs about his plan to run the campaign for his presidential candidacy. "I've told them that I will run the campaign on Saturdays and Sundays," he said at his private residential place, Saturday, March 15, 2014.
As previously reported, Jokowi has been given the mandate by PDI-P chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri to become the presidential candidate representing the PDI-P. Jokowi announced his candidacy during a blusukan (impromptu visit) to Rumah Pitung in Marunda, North Jakarta, on Friday.
However, Jokowi said that he has no plan to take leave of duty during the campaign period. "Maybe just once in a while but I don't know for sure," he said.
Regarding the permit that he needs to ask from the President, Jokowi said that the matter would be handled by a legal team from this party. "The team will handle the matter," he uttered.
