TEMPO.CO, Pemalang - Mount Slamet's seismic activity has been escalating since the status was declared as 'high alert'. The Vocanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center (PVMBG) raised the status of the second highest mount in Java to 'above normal' on Monday.
The data from Mount Slamet's observation post in Gambuhan Village, Pemalang, revealed escalated seismic activities from 208 on Tuesday to 244 on Wednesday at 6 a.m. According to an observer, Sukedi, the seismic activities can only be detected by seismograph, not by human, due to their small scale.
The observation post reported the mount had erupted white thick smoke since last night until this morning.
Although the status of the mount is still on alert, District Military Command 0712/Tegal had prepared large tents at Tuwel and Kedawung village.
"The tents had been prepared since Tuesday afternoon to anticipate refuge," said Captain Adi Hartono.
