TEMPO/Nita Dian

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia's Director of Economic and Monetary Policy Department Dody Zulverdi said that Bank Indonesia (BI) is initiating economic cluster development for regional economy to support institutional strengthening, farmers and breeders, and increase bank financing.

"Clusters development is for food commodities that contribute in regional inflation and increase the people's income," said Dody on Tuesday. He said that these moves could stimulate faster economic development.

According to Dody, clusters development is carried out in various provinces with different focus to develop each province's potential.

The clusters development is as follow; rice cultivation using the SRI method in North Sumatra, joint marketing for chillies in Kalimantan, rattan development for Central Java, red chillies and chickes in West Java, cattle and fish cultivation for Bali and West Nusa Tenggara, and seaweed, batik, chillies, and milkfish for Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua.

Dody explained that this clusters development is a sample project for potential industries development in the regions.
