Jokowi stated that if the flood occurs, the Jakarta administration will only resort to using regular budget.
"To date, we have never issued emergency response, only flood alert," Jokowi explained.
As previously reported, flood alert status has been imposed since January 12, 2014, and will end in February 12, 2014. Disaster Mitigation Agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, said in a press release that the Jakarta Mitigation Agency had proposed an extension for flood alert status to the Governor.
According to Sutopo, the flood that occur this year was different compared to last year. This year, rain has lower intensity but often lasts longer, while last year, rain occurs at a lower frequency with considerably higher intensity.
