TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Mount Kelud Observation officer warned that the volcano has entered the third month of its alert status. Despite being unable to predict the eruption, improving status periodicity based on last eruption hints that it is imminent.
"Back in 1990, the period between alert status and eruption was three months," said Chief of Munt Kelud Observation Post at the Center of Volcano and Geology Disaster Mitigation, Khoirul Huda. Moreover, he mentioned that Kelud volcanic activity was in pattern, that Kelud eruption in 2007 began with a lava dome creation.
However, tremor quakes and eruption occured in one night space in 1990, while it was of fortnight space in 2007. Current quake pattern shows that Mount Kelud already trembles in minor and major tremor. Khoirul added that Mount Kelud is almost certainly to erupt. The eruption can also took a larger scale as Kelud has withstand the eruption for quite sometime, since 2007.
