Nazar Reveals Role of Anas in Hambalang Project

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Graft convict Muhammad Nazaruddin has described the role of former Democrat Chief Anas Urbaningrum in Hambalang project, saying that Anas was the mastermind behind it. "Anas ruled it from the House (DPR) and Wafid Muharram ruled it from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs," said Nazar when testifying in the court against Dedi Kusdinar.

Nazar said that Anas' role was to take care of Hambalang site for National Sports Training Center, thus requesting help from fellow Democrat Faction member Ignatius Mulyono. "Anas asked back then: 'Is Mr. Ignatius close to the Chief of National Land Chief Joyo Winoto?'" said Nazar.

Nazar then claimed that the three men went to meet with Chief Joyo back in September 2009, requesting to have Hambalang project finished soon. Less than a month, Ignatius brought a letter from BPN, declaring that it is done. "The letter was then brought by Anas to Wafid," said Nazar, confirming that he was there witnessing the event.
