TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Health Insurance (JKN) program implemented on January 1, 2014, continue to face problems. Several hospitals have refused to cooperate with the Social Security Agency of Health (BPJSK) and continue to reject poor patients.
In Bengkulu, thousands of underprivileged people were denied access to free medical treatment. Bengkulu's Arga Makmur Public Hospitat Director Erdan, said that there are problems in the process of altering the Jamkesda (Regional Health Security program) coverage to JKN.
According to Erdan, the hospital was forced to refuse patients covered by the Jamkesda program. He added that the hospital can only treats underprivileged patients covered by Jamkesmas that has been integrated with the JKN program.
During the early stage of the JKN implementation, police, army, civil servants, and people who have already registered for an insurance in Askes and Jamsostek, will be automatically registered in JKN. Until December 2013, around 116.12 million people have been reigstered.
