TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Chairman of the Golkar Party, Agung Laksono, said that his party will deliver its stance regarding the government's plan to provide Temporary Direct Assistance (BLS) following a planned increase in fuel prices.
After attending a cabinet meeting at the Presidential Office in Jakarta, Tuesday, May 7, Agung said that Golkar chairman Aburizal Bakrie will meet with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono today.
However, Agung did not specify what Bakrie will discuss with the president. He also said that he did not know where the meeting will be held.
When opening the cabinet meeting, President Yudhoyono mentioned the direct assistance plan. He said that the government is preparing the State Budget and Expenditure Changes will include the fuel price hike and the compensation for the people.
The president said he had heard people saying in the media that the public believes the government is unsure about when to increase fuel prices.
"Let it be known that once the assistance is prepared, we will adjust the price of fuel. Again, it has become crucial to discuss the State Budget Change with the House of Representatives. Well we do not want some sort of uncertainty in our country regarding the state budget change, fuel subsidies, and the adjustment of fuel prices," he asserted.
