TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan compared the supply of two most demanded red meat products in Indonesia's capital; beef and pork.
Anies said that the Jakarta administration is tasked to supply 165 tons of beef and 500 tons of pork meat.
"Based on its demand, beef still loses to the pork demand. It's a welfare scale," said Anies Baswedan at the Borobudur Hotel in Central Jakarta on Thursday, December 6, 2018.
The governor presented the comparison in the meeting to evaluate trade partnership programs of featured products that were also attended by the East Java Governor Soekarwo.
According to Anies, the difference in the level of consumption shows that there is a difference in buying power and added that Jakarta's beef consumption must be improved.
Anies calculated that the city's beef supply can be increased three folds compared to the current situation only if the level of people's consumption is also increased. "The supply currently lacks because the prices are also high," said Governor Anies Baswedan.
