36 Movies to be Aired during 2018 Japan Cinema Week in Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Visual Industry Promotion Organization (VIPO) in collaboration with the Agency of Cultural Affairs and Japan Foundation will hold 2018 Japan Cinema Week in CGV Grand Indonesia, Jakarta, on December 7-16.
The 2018 Japan Cinema Week is a series celebration of the 60 years of Japan-Indonesia diplomatic ties. The event aims to increase the interest of Indonesian people on Japanese culture, open opportunities for Japanese movie screenings in the archipelago, and contribute to the development of cultural tourism in Japan.
Based on an official release on Saturday, November 24, a total of 36 movies from six categories will be aired during the event. The categories are New J-Director, New J-Film, “Samurai” Historical, “Kira-Kira” Teen, “Tokusatsu” Special Effect, and Documentary.
Some of the movies are entitled One Cut of the Dead, Pieta in the Toilet, Miss Hokusai, Let Me Eat Your Pancreas, GAMERA: The Guardian of the Universe, and GODZILLA (1954). All the films are curated by a joint team of Agency of Cultural Affairs, VIPO, and Japan International Foundation.
Other than the movie screening, several programs will be presented to enliven the Japan Cinema Week this year, including the workshop on special effect movies (Tokusatsu), discussions with producers and actors from Japan, and symposiums by filmmakers from both countries. The events are expected to improve the quality of the movie industry in Indonesia and Japan.
