TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice presidential hopeful Sandiaga Uno appealed to the public to respect the selection process of Jakarta deputy governor candidate. The process, Sandiaga said, included deals that candidate from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) would be proposed to Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD).

“Just follow the process, the agreement on the last meeting must be respected that [the vacant position of Jakarta Deputy Governor] would be occupied by PKS cadre,” said Sandiaga in the city park Pesanggrahan Sangga Buana in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta on Wednesday, November 7.

Sandiaga mentioned PKS and Gerindra party was a long time friend. The former deputy of Gerindra advisory board said Prabowo Subianto was a figure that held up his commitment, including giving the seat of Jakarta deputy governor for the da’wah party.

“This is why I always take my hat off to Pak Prabowo who is sincere and hold his commitment,” Sandiaga said.

The process to determine Jakarta deputy governor has entered a new stage following the deal made by PKS and Gerindra on Monday, November 5. Both parties supporting Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno in the 2017 gubernatorial election agreed to give the vacant position for PKS cadre.

However, PKS and Gerindra planned to establish a team to conduct a fit and proper test for candidates before submitting the name to Anies Baswedan. Meanwhile, Gerindra Jakarta head M. Taufik opined his party would have a chance to propose a candidate should PKS cadre fail the test.
