TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Democratic Party member Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), son of former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), said that his criticism towards the government led by President Joko `Jokowi` Widodo is based on the inputs he receives from the public.
“That is why in June, I delivered the political oration entitled ‘Listen to People’s Voice, Not Listen to Democrat’s Voice’,” said AHY at the AHY Foundation Headquarter on Wednesday, June 13.
Previously on June 9, AHY criticized President Jokowi and Vice President JK (Jusuf Kalla)'s administration. His speech was responded by General Secretary of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) Hasto Kristiyanto, who defended that AHY’s criticism was not objective.
Hasto argues that AHY’s criticism is Democratic Party’s change of attitude in the 2019 presidential election party coalition. He claimed that prior to the speech, there were signs suggesting that Democrat would join the incumbent’s party coalition.
Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono argued that the Democratic Party has always been consistent to voice out criticism against the current administration since he believes that his party has a role and responsibility to become a part of the solution.
“This means that we are rational and realistic, we can’t just say that everything is already great, that would be a lie,” said Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY).
