Under the regulation, everyone who hires a maid must have a working contract.

Hanif also said that the regulation applies for domestic maids who are either channeled through manpower bureaus or those who are personally requested by users.

"They (the house maids) are obliged to obtain either oral contract or a written contract,” he said.

The minister added that the contract must at least specific the identities of the two parties, rights and obligations of both parties and the period of the working contract.

"As for wages, it depends on the agreement of both parties,” Hanif said.
