TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesia Veterinarian Association (PDHI) announced that it will accompany one of its members, Indhira Kusumawardhani, who was sued by a pet owner and former patient up to Rp1.3 billion.

The lawsuit was filed at the Tangerang District Court by Nadhila Utama (29) who is currently accusing Indhira of negligence that led to the death of her two-week old albino Siberian husky offspring, which is claimed to be a rare species.

PDHI spokesman Cecep Moch. Wahyudi said that the association had conducted an internal profession code of ethic trial and found that Indhira had not violated any ethics and not negligent and could not be accused of causing the death of the puppy.

“It can be deemed negligence if the animal is physically under the doctor’s monitoring, but this case is an outpatient case,” said Cecep on Wednesday. He said that Nadhila went to Indhira’s clinic when it was about to close on May 28. At the same time, Indhira claims that she was experiencing acute flu and had given the patient’s dog an injection and vitamin.

The following day, Indhira, who took flu medicine had overslept to noon which skipped her promise to visit the patient’s puppy. Cecep argues that Indhira cannot be blamed for that; “Doctors are human too, they also need a bed rest,” said Cecep.

As previously reported, Nadhila went to check her puppy to another veterinarian since Indhira did not visit her.

But after being fed at the other location, the puppy’s condition became worse and finally died in the afternoon.
