TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Dozens of online taxi drivers have started to flock Gojek’s headquarters in Blok M, South Jakarta, today to stage a follow-up protest previously held at Grab Indonesia`s headquarters on Monday.
According to the rally’s spokesman Dedi Heriyantoni, today's protest demands four issues that they deem need to be solved by both the government and ride-hailing app companies.
The four demands include; the ride-hailing companies should keep their promises, refuses the notion of changing app companies as legit transportation companies, against the exploitation of online taxi drivers, and disavows online taxi business monopoly.
“Both online motorcycle taxi (ojek) and taxi drivers alike are present in today’s rally,” said Dedi when Tempo reached him today, Sept. 12.
The South Jakarta Police Deputy Chief Adj. Comm. Budi Sartono said the police has mobilized 300 police personnel to secure the rally held by a number of online taxi drivers.
