TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno said newcomers of the post-Eid influx would not become a burden on the capital.
"We will pay attention to their work fields," he said at the Jakarta Fair in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta on Thursday, June 21.
"We will make sure they have skills that can be used to improve their welfare," he said.
Sandiaga also called on newcomers to report to neighborhood heads within 24 hours upon arrival.

Thousands of people have flocked to the capital in during the post-Eid influx—some 21,000 people were recorded to have arrived at Pulogebang Terminal in East Jakarta alone.
Ismanto, the terminal's head, said most of them hailed from Central and East Java.

According to Tempo's observation, bus passengers arriving at the terminal in overall were not travelling alone and carrying bags and boxes.
“I want to follow my brother in Cakung and join the convection,” said Abimanyu, a newcomer from Tegal, Central Java.
