TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Low-cost carrier (LCC) Citilink Indonesia on Friday, June 1, 2018, will open a flight route connecting Yogyakarta and Makassar.

“The opening of this connecting-the-dot route is a part of Citilink Indonesia’s endeavors to expand its network by providing a flight service from and to all major cities in Indonesia,” said Citilink Indonesia vice president Ranty Astari Rachman on Thursday, May 31.

Makassar is the main hub for Citilink Indonesia to serve the connecting flights in east Indonesian regions, such as Kendari, Ambon, Jayapura, and Manado.

“The Yogyakarta-Makassar route is the second connecting-the-dot route served by Citilink Indonesia after the Semarang-Surabaya route to expand its network, to own 21.4 percent of the market share,” Ranty explained.

With the flight routes, Citilink Indonesia is optimistic to reach a load factor of above 83 percent, since the number of passengers is expected to increase to 441,320 by the end of 2018.

To serve the Yogyakarta-Makassar route, Citilink Indonesia will use Airbus A320 with a capacity of 180 passengers.
