Indonesia Uber Cup Team Defeats Malaysia 3-2

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia Uber Cup team defeated Malaysia 3-2 in Group D qualifying match in Bangkok, Thailand on Monday, May 21.


With the victory, Indonesia is ranked second in Group D standings, below China, that led to a 5-0 win over France. Malaysia is in third and France as caretaker.


Indonesia trailed 0-1 after Fitriani was defeated by Sonia Cheah 21-10, 17-21, 14-21. Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu as couple secured the position by defeating Yea Ching Goh/Lee Meng Yean 21-13, 21-14.


The second single, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, defeated Goh Jin Wei 22-20, 21-16. The victory determined by Della Destiara Haris/Rizki Amelia Pradipta, who won over Chow Mei Kuan/Vivian Hoo 24-22, 20-22, 21-12.


The third single, Ruselli Hartawan, defeated Selvaduray Kisona 23-21, 21-23, 13-21.


On the second day, Tuesday, May 22, Indonesia will meet with France and China against Malaysia. The top two teams will continue to the second round.


The Thomas Indonesia Cup team on Tuesday will play against Thailand, after on Sunday, May 20, defeating Canada 5-0 in Group B.


Thomas Indonesia Cup team is second in Group B standings, below South Korea.
