Chinese Prime Minister to Visit Indonesia and Japan

TEMPO.CO, Beijing - Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang is scheduled to pay visits to Indonesia and Japan, on May 6-11, 2018.


The visit to Indonesia would be a reciprocal one and at the invitation of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Hua Chunying said in a statement on Wednesday.


Li will also visit Japan at the invitation of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and to attend a summit with the leaders of Japan and South Korea.


Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan earlier said that Jokowi would receive Li on May 6.


On May 7-8, he will have several agenda in Indonesia, and on May 8 he will depart for Japan, according to Pandjaitan.


Foreign Affairs Minister Retno LP Marsudi was informed about the planned visit when she was in Beijing on Feb 9, 2018.


Li is expected to discuss China`s One Belt and One Road Initiative with Indonesia`s leader, construction of Jakarta-Bandung rapid train, and efforts to intensify bilateral trade ties between the two countries.


He visited Indonesia in 2008 in his capacity as deputy prime minister of China.
