Jokowi Wants Kertajati Airport to Become Economic Growth Center

TEMPO.CO, Majalengka - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo wanted Kertajati Airport to be a new economic growth center in West Java and its surrounding areas.
"Obviously, the development around the airport, as a new economic growth center will also be apparent," said President Jokowi while reviewing the Kertajati Airport, which is still in the process of completion in Majalengka on Tuesday, April 17, 2018.
Jokowi said that for the first phase, the airport can be completed in accordance with the deadline. For the next stage, the development of economic centers around the airport will be completed.
"Yes, [developing economic center] is the second phase, complete the airport first," Jokowi said.
President Jokowi applauded the construction of the airport, which Jokowi considered to be fast starting from when the President had officially commenced the construction in January 2016.
Currently, the construction of Kertajati Airport, which will be used as a new international airport in West Java, has reached 95 percent completion.
The airport will also be used as an embarkation point for hajj pilgrims in West Java.
The construction of Kertajati Aero City is divided into four phases: industrial and warehousing zones, public and social service zones, office, trade and services zones, residential zones, green open space zones, blue open space zones, mixed and road map zones.
