TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Ministry is currently drafting a Ministerial Decree (Permenhub) on the management of ride-hailing applicator such as online-based transportation or known as online ojek.
The ministry's Transportation and Multi-Mode Director Cucu Mulyana expected the regulation would diminish the controversial issue on online transportation. "Permenhub 108/2017 is generally about transportation, besides, the rule for applicator has yet stipulated. So, we try to include that regulation within the policy," said Cucu in his office on Thursday, April 12, 2018.
In addition, the new policy would represent the government's decision to classify the applicator as the public transportation company. Moreover, in the policy, the sanction would be clearly stipulated, starting from administrative sanction, fine, license suspension, to permit revocation.
Other than sanctions, the ministry would manage the potential investment of the company as well as the deadline of transition time they should meet to be public transportation company.
According to Cucu, the transition would not take a long time. "The requirement [as public transportation company] is easy including have minimal five vehicles, vehicle storage and collaborate with workshops. As for the administration is such as company certificate and tax identification number [NPWP]," Cucu explained.
