TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - Head of the health center at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Dr. Benget Turnip stated there are several areas vulnerable to HIV/AIDS in and surrounding the airport.
“Prostitution in airport transit hotels, entertainment spots, and shady street side stores around the airport became the threat of HIV/AIDS transmission,” said the doctor on Wednesday, April 4.
To anticipate such threats, Benget stated, the Port Health Office established joint force [Pokja] of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control in the airport. The team involved government institutions, BUMN [state-owned enterprise], and the airlines in the airport.
