Trade Minister: Food Stock Safe Ahead of Fasting Month

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita guarantees the availability of food stocks will approaching Ramadan this year.
"It’s safe, and now the price no longer increases. it's a positive thing, and the [price] decrease stand has started," he said after a meeting held in Bandung on Friday, March 23.

Enggartiasto expressed gratitude that the price decrease before the fasting month this year occurred gradually, instead drastically.
“In early April 2018, we predicted that the fasting month would start in early or mid-May. The prices are expected to be under control in relation to the highest retail prices (HET),” he said.

According to Enggartiasto, rice is among is one of the foodstuffs guaranteed to be safe during the fasting month.
"I can tell that rice available at the logistics Agency (Bulog) will enter the market, The harvesting season will arrive soon, so all of it will be the new stockpile Therefore, we do not need to worry," he said.
