Siemens Plans Building Waste Power Plants in Indonesia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ministry official says that German-based manufacturer Siemens Indonesia plans to build waste-fueled power plants in Indonesia.
“Siemens has spoken with the Coordinating Ministry of the Economy as well as regional governments,” the Industry Ministry’s director of machinery industries Zakiyudin said that on Tuesday, Feb. 6.

On the same day, Industry Minister Airlangga Hartanto received a visit from Siemens Indonesia’s president director and CEO Prakash Chandran in Jakarta.
Zakiyudon said that the German company has the technology required to turn waste into electricity, which Indonesia can benefit from.
“In the near future, [Siemens] will talk to provincial and regional governments,” he remarked.
According to Zakiyudin, the waste-fueled power plants will be built in eight major cities, where garbage and landfill problems often occur in.
