TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State power company PLN recoded that 194 power substations in the Adonara Island, East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, were damaged after a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck the Flores Sea. All of the damaged substations have been repaired.
"Electricity in Adonara Island had went down because of earthquake, but since 16:00 Central Indonesia Time, all 194 affected substations have been normalized," PLN's executive vice president for corporate communications and TJSL, Agung Murdifi, said in a statement received in Kupang, Tuesday, 14 December.
The electricity supply on Adonara Island has been disrupted following the earthquake this morning.
The field team, he said, immediately started working to make repairs. And now 38.085 affected customers can have electricity again.
He added that all electricity systems from Flores Island to Alor Island, which were affected by the earthquake, are in safe condition, and there is no blackout. However PLN has shut down the Ropa steam power plant temporarily because there are indications that sea levels are rising.
Agung appealed all residents to report any electrical disturbance via PLN's mobile app or contact the 123 contact center.
