TEMPO.CO, Madiun - State train manufacturer Industri Kereta Api (PT INKA) received orders for 31 series of light rail transit or LRT of Jakarta-Bogor-Depok-Bekasi (Jabodebek) area from state train company Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI). The contract value is Rp3.9 trillion, sourced from the State Budget (APBN).
"The funding structure is only 30 percent from the state budget and the rest is from the syndicated loan," said Coordinating Minister for Marine Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan after witnessing the signing of a Jabodebek LRT procurement contract between KAI and INKA in Madiun, East Java.
INKA is also required to cooperate with a number of competent firms, namely Krakatau Steel, Barata Indonesia, and PT Pindad as the supplier of the train material and components.
As for consultation and research, INKA cooperates with Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education. Other parties which involved are Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, Sebelas Maret University, Gajah Mada University, and Bandung Institute of Technology.
"Including UMKM (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises). They make doors, bodies, and so on," said Luhut.
LRT Jabodebek is targeted to be completed next year. The test trial is expected to take place in April and in October 2019, it is expected to be operational.
President Director of PT INKA Budi Noviantoro agreed that three of the 31 Jabodebek LRT series will be completed next year. Each series consists of six trains. The advantages are faster than other types of trains.
"The train is running on its own, there is no engineer, but there must be the officers to maintain the equipment," said Budi.
He explained the components and materials, which include air conditioning, iron, steel, and aluminum, are 60 percent domestic production. However, the proportions of bodies are still imported.
